Baron Hill Club Closure during the Firebreak announced by the First Minister of Wales

Baron Hill Golf Club Closure from 6pm on 23rd October Until 9th November.

Baron Hill Update to Members 22nd October 2020

Dear Baron Hill Golf Club Members,

As I am sure you are all aware following on from the First Minister’s announcement on Monday a firebreak will come into effect from 6pm this Friday 23rd October until Monday 9th November we have been waiting for Golf Wales to receive clarity on what this means to golf clubs in Wales.

We can confirm the entire club will be closed for the duration of the firebreak & we are hopeful that following this period golf will be one of the first sports to see restrictions lift as was the case following the lockdown in Spring.

We as your elected board are currently discussing the level of compensation we as a club are able to offer members both for the lockdown in the Spring & this latest Firebreak. Once the level of financial support we as a club will receive & the terms of its usage are fully known we will update members further on the 2 tiers of refunds; at the very latest the detail will be circulated as our proposal 21 days prior to the club’s AGM which will be held on the 3rd of December, either with tight social distancing & or virtually.

The First Minister has announced a fire break to take place between Friday 23rd October at 6 pm until Monday 9th November. It will apply to everyone living in Wales and will supersede all local restrictions currently in place.

The Welsh Government has stated ‘Golf and tennis clubs will be required to close during the period of the lockdown.’

We have since clarified the point with the Welsh Government, and the whole facility will be required to close for the duration of the lockdown. This includes the course, clubhouse, professional shop and surrounding facilities.

The clear stay at home message means that all non-essential retail and leisure are to close during this lockdown period. ‘Your exercise should start and finish from your home and you should exercise alone or with a member of your household’

We would like to thank you all for your patience in what has been a very challenging year for us all, keep safe & we will see you soon at the club.

Kind Regards,

Board of Directors Baron Hill Golf Club
